916.04 PURPOSES AND POWERS.
(a) The Tree Commission shall have the power to study, investigate, plan, advise, report and recommend to Council any action, program, plan or legislation which the Commission shall find or determine to be necessary or advisable for the care, selection, preservation, trimming, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in public ways, streets, alleys, highways and other public places.
(b) To hold regular and special meetings at which the subject of trees insofar as it relates to the municipality may be discussed by the members of the Commission, officers, personnel. and Council committees of the municipality and all others interested in the tree program.
(c) To disseminate news and information regarding the selection, planting and maintenance of trees within the corporate limits, whether the same be on private or public property.
(d) The Commission shall establish the recommended species and varieties of trees to be planted in the tree lawns or parks and shall disseminate information regarding the selection, planting and maintenance of trees within the corporate limits, whether the same be on private or public property.
(e) The Commission, when requested by Council or the Mayor shall consider, investigate, make findings, report and recommend upon any special matter or question coming within the scope of its work.
(f) To implement an Arbor Day observance on an annual basis.
