A Hall of Fame to honor individuals associated with the City of Wheeling for outstanding accomplishments in all walks of life shall be established in the halls of the WesBanco Arena. While outstanding public services were rendered by our founding fathers and early citizens, these worthy deeds are recognized by historical publications and appropriately honored in other halls, museums and memorials. Therefore, honorees in the Wheeling Hall of Fame shall be selected on the basis of accomplishments, a part of which may have occurred by, and/or after March 11, 1836, the date of the incorporation of the City. For purposes of selection and designation, the human endeavors of the honorees shall be divided into the following six (6) major categories:
(a) Music and Fine Arts,
(b) Business, Industry and Professions,
(c) Education and Religion,
(d) Sports and Athletics,
(e) Public Service, and
(f) Philanthropy.
