149.12 VACATIONS.
   (a)   The heads of all departments, with the approval of the City Manager shall grant annual vacations with pay to all full-time permanent employees in the classified and unclassified services of the City. Each full pay period worked by an employee, including vacation time and allowable sick leave, shall entitle the employee to earned vacation credits on the following schedule:
 
8 Hour Shift Employees
0 - 60 months –    3.07 hours/pay period
(80 hours = 10 days = 2 weeks)
61 - 120 months –    4.61 hours/pay period
(120 hours = 15 days = 3 weeks)
121+ months –    6.15 hours/pay period
(160 hours = 20 days = 4 weeks)
10 Hour Shift Employees
0 - 60 months –    3.07 hours/pay period
(80 hours = 8 days = 2 weeks)
61 - 120 months --    4.61 hours/pay period
(120 hours = 12 days = 3 weeks)
121+ months --    6.15 hours/pay period
(160 hours = 16 days = 4 weeks)
12 Hour Shift Employees
0 - 60 months –    3.23 hours/pay period
(84 hours = 7 days = 2 weeks)
61 - 120 months –    4.61 hours/pay period
(120 hours = 10 days = 3 weeks)
121+ months –    6.46 hours/pay period
(168 hours = 14 days = 4 weeks)
24 Hour Shift Employees
0 - 60 months –    4.61 hours/pay period
(120 hours = 5 days = 2 weeks)
61 - 120 months –    6.46 hours/pay period
(168 hours = 7 days = 3 weeks)
121+ months –    9.23 hours/pay period
(240 hours = 10 days = 4 weeks)
   (b)   Annual vacations with pay may be scheduled for a period not to exceed the earned vacation credits at the start of the vacation period. Vacations shall be granted at such time as will least interfere with the efficient operation of a department, and particular consideration shall be given to the number of employees absent on vacation and sick leave at the same time. Any vacation credits earned during the calendar year and not taken prior to December 31st of the following year, must be scheduled and used prior to March 1st of the next succeeding calendar year.
