789.02 IMPOSITION AND AMOUNT OF TAX; EXEMPTED UTILITIES.
   There is laid and imposed upon each and every public utility, excepting railroads, taxicabs and motor vehicles used for the transportation of property for hire or compensation, using the public streets, alleys, avenues, boulevards and thoroughfares of the City for the purpose of maintaining upon, over and under the same any pipes or pipe lines, rails, wires, cables, poles or conduits, or any other means of conveying and transporting any natural gas, electric power or energy, or electric light or power service, telephone or telegraph service, or for furnishing any public utility service, a charge equal to one-half of one percent (.5%) of the gross revenue, derived by any and each of the public utilities from business done by it within the City.
