9-3-13: ELECTRICAL AND NEON SIGNS:
   A.   Electrical Signs: Service to an electrical sign shall be through a rigid conduit to be of an approved safety type. This cabinet shall be enclosed in a weatherproof box on which provision shall be made for locking. (1983 Code § 5-413)
   B.   Neon Signs:
      1.   On Or In Any Buildings:
         a.   When neon signs are placed on or in any building within the city limits, they shall be installed in accordance with this subsection B1 and the provisions of the national electrical code.
         b.   Transformers shall not be placed less than eight feet (8') off the floor and not more than three feet (3') from the outlet to which they are connected.
         c.   High tension lines shall be connected by approved metal clips from transformers to electrodes. All connections shall be made with some approved connector, which shall be encased in tin cases so arranged that they cannot be reached without removing the case. (1983 Code § 5-414)
      2.   Outside Public Buildings:
         a.   This subsection B2 applies only to neon signs when placed on the outside of public buildings. Wires feeding sign transformers shall be run in conduit and fastened to the metal cabinet where the transformer is to be placed.
         b.   High tension lines shall then be from transformer to electrode through glass brackets and lines shall be taped so as to prevent the lines from sliding. The connection in this type of sign shall also be made with approved connector. No inspection fee for less than five dollars ($5.00) for any type of sign shall be charged. (1983 Code § 5-415)
