5-5C-1: ASSAULT AND BATTERY:
   A.   Definitions: For the purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this subsection:
    ASSAULT: Any wilful and unlawful attempt or offer with force or violence to do a corporal hurt to another.
   BATTERY: Any wilful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.
   B.   Prohibited Acts: It is unlawful to commit an assault or an assault and battery within the city. (1983 Code § 10-501)
