6-2-2: DEFINITIONS:
For the purpose of this chapter all words used herein in the present tense shall include the future, all words in the plural number shall include the singular number, and all words in the singular number shall include the plural number.
As used in this chapter the following words and terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section:
CITY: The incorporated city of West Wendover, Nevada.
COMMERCIAL USE: The use of water in premises where customer is engaged in a trade or profession or any situation in which the water is used to obtain monetary benefits.
CONNECTION: The pipeline and appurtenant facilities such as the curb stop, meter and meter box, all used to extend water service from a main to premises, the laying thereof and the tapping of the main. Where services are divided at the curb or property line to serve several customers, each such branch service shall be deemed a separate service.
COST: The cost of labor, material, transportation, supervision, engineering and all other necessary overhead expenses.
COUNCIL: The city council of West Wendover or the water board to the exclusion of the city council of West Wendover, provided such water board is duly appointed by the city council.
COUNTY: Elko County, Nevada.
CROSS CONNECTION: Any physical connection between the piping system from the city service and that of any other water supply that is not, or cannot be, approved as safe and potable for human consumption, whereby water from the unapproved source may be forced or drawn into the city distribution mains.
DOMESTIC USE: The use of water for household residential purposes, including water for sprinkling lawns, gardens and shrubbery, washing vehicles, watering animals and livestock and other similar and customary purposes.
MAIN: A water line in a street, highway, alley or easement used for public and private fire protection and for general distribution of water.
OWNER: The person owning the fee, or the person on whose name the legal title to the property appears, by deed duly recorded in the County Recorder's office or the person in possession of the property or buildings under claim of or exercising acts of ownership over same for himself or as executor, administrator, guardian or trustee of the owner.
PERSON: An individual or a company, association, copartnership or public or private corporation.
PREMISES: A lot or parcel of real property under one ownership, except where there are well-defined boundaries or partitions such as fences, hedges or other restrictions preventing the common use of the property by the several tenants, in which case each portion shall be deemed separate premises.
PRIVATE FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE: Water service and facilities for building sprinkler systems, hydrants, hose reels and other facilities installed on private property for fire protection and the water available therefor.
PUBLIC FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE: The service and facilities of the entire water supply, storage and distribution system of the City, including the fire hydrants affixed thereto and the water available for fire protection, excepting house service connections and appurtenances thereto.
REGULAR WATER SERVICE: Water service and facilities rendered for normal domestic, commercial and industrial purposes on a permanent basis and the water available therefor.
TEMPORARY WATER SERVICE: Water service and facilities rendered for construction work and other uses of limited duration and the water available therefor.
WATER DEPARTMENT: Personnel appointed by the City to perform functions related to water service in the City. (Ord. 91-40, 1-7-1992)
