6-1-1: DEFINITIONS, DESIGNATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
The following terms, whenever used in this Title, shall have the meanings, designations and specifications indicated:
   A.   Arterial Street:
      1.   Definition: The term "arterial street" shall mean a major thoroughfare designed to accommodate a significant amount of traffic. Such major thoroughfares shall usually form boundaries for neighborhoods, have minor access control, have multi-laned intersections and have restricted parking.
      2.   Specifications:

      3.   Construction Standards: Construction standards for arterial streets shall be as set forth by resolution of the City Council.
   B.   Collector Street:
      1.   Definition: The term "collector street" shall mean a main interior street, the primary function of which is to move traffic between arterial and residential areas. The secondary function of such collector streets is to provide access to abutting properties.
      2.   Specifications:

Sidewalks
8 feet total width (4 feet on each side)
Curb and gutter
4 feet total width (2 feet on each side), business frontage high back curb and gutter.

      3.   Construction Standards: Construction standards for collector streets shall be as set forth by resolution of the City Council.
   C.   Residential Street:
      1.   Definition: The term "residential street" shall mean a local service street within a standard residential development. Said street may abut other residential streets or collector streets.
      2.   Specifications:

Sidewalks
8 feet total width (4 feet on each side)
Curb and gutter
4 feet total width (2 feet on each side), optional design, preference toward rolled curb and gutter in residential areas.

      3.   Construction Standards: Construction standards for residential streets shall be as set forth by resolution of the City Council.
   D.   Lane:
      1.   Definition: The term "lane" shall mean any nondedicated street servicing self-contained developments including RMH-1, 3, and 4, RMF and PUDs.
      2.   Specifications:

8 feet total width (4 feet on each side)
Curb and gutter
4 feet total width (2 feet on each side), optional design, preference toward rolled curb and gutter in residential areas.

      3.   Construction Standards: Construction standards for lanes shall be as set forth by resolution of the City Council.
   E.   Alley:
      1.   Definition: The term "alley" shall mean any public or private way providing secondary vehicular access and service to properties which may also abut a street.
      2.   Specifications:

      3.   Construction Standards: Construction standards for alleys shall be as set forth by resolution of the City Council.
   F.   Cul-De-Sac:
      1.   Definition: The term "cul-de-sac" shall mean a residential street having one end permanently terminating in and including a vehicular turn area. Said street may be a maximum of five hundred feet (500') in length and must have a minimum turning radius of ninety feet (90'). Paving, sidewalk and gutter of said street must be consistent with residential streets or lanes depending on neighborhood.
      2.   Construction Standards: Construction standards for cul-de- sacs shall be as set forth by resolution of the City Council. (Ord. 97-06, 8-5-1997)
