(A) Prefixes for the following named streets or parts thereof are hereby designated as follows:
(1) The portion of the avenues named below and lying north of Main Street are hereby designated or renamed with the prefix North, and the portion of the avenues named below and lying south of Main Street are hereby designated or renamed South:
(a) N. Jefferson Avenue;
(b) Backstreet, N.;
(c) Third Avenue, N.;
(d) Fourth Avenue, N.;
(e) N. Church Avenue;
(f) S. Jefferson Avenue;
(g) Backstreet, S.;
(h) Third Avenue, S.;
(i) Fourth Avenue, S.; and
(j) S. Church Avenue.
(2) The portion of the streets or parts thereof named below and lying east of Jefferson Avenue are hereby designated or renamed with the prefix East, and that portion of the streets or parts thereof named below and lying west of Jefferson Avenue are hereby designated or renamed with the prefix West.
(a) E. Ashe Street;
(b) E. State Street;
(c) E. Main Street;
(d) E. First Street;
(e) E. Second Street;
(f) E. Fourth Street;
(g) E. Fifth Street;
(h) E. Sixth Street;
(i) E. Seventh Street;
(j) W. Ashe Street;
(k) W. State Street;
(l) W. Main Street;
(m) W. First Street;
(n) W. Second Street;
(o) W. Third Street;
(p) W. Fourth Street;
(q) W. Sixth Street; and
(r) W. Seventh Street.
(B) So as to facilitate the understanding of the street designation system, all public streets designated or renamed herein running in a north-south direction shall be called Avenues or Drives as appropriate, and those running in an east-west direction shall be called Streets.
(C) From and after the effective date of this section, all public streets designated or renamed herein shall have and shall be known by the prefix and the name as provided for in this section.
(D) All official street maps of the town shall be corrected to show the designated street names as provided for by this section, and a copy of the ordinance codified herein shall be filed with the Register of Deeds of the county.
