§ 11.01 INCORPORATION OF TOWN.
   (A)   The Town of West Jefferson in the County of Ashe be and is hereby incorporated by the name and style of "West Jefferson", and it shall have all the provisions of law now provided for in Chapter 73 of the Revisal of 1905, relative to cities and towns, not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act.
   (B)   The town shall be incorporated in accordance with the plan made by the West Jefferson Land Company, and the town limits shall extend one-half mile north, south, east, and west of the point where the center lines of Main Street and West Jefferson Avenue cross one another at the crossing of the streets in the town, which shall constitute a square, by connecting cardinal points by lines parallel to the lines parallel to the lines connecting the cardinal points from the center of the town, as above designated.
   (C)   The officers of the town shall consist of a Mayor and five Aldermen.
   (D)   The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the town shall, in addition to the powers already granted by its charter, have all the powers enumerated, in subchapters 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12, except as hereinafter provided, of Chapter 136 of the Laws of 1917, relative to the government of cities and towns; provided, however, that the subchapters above adopted shall be, and are hereby amended as follows:
      (1)   Amend subchapter five of the act, division (f), by striking out the words "or suppress" in line one, and by striking out the word "define" in line three;
      (2)   Amend subchapter five, division (x), by striking out the words "and prohibit" in line one, and the word "prohibit" in division (hh);
      (3)   Strike out § 7 of subchapter six; and
      (4)   Strike out the words "prohibit and prevent" in line six of § 1 of subchapter 10 of Chapter 136.
   (E)   Subchapter 13 of Chapter 136 of the Public Laws of 1917, with the exception of §§ 5, 9 and 12, are hereby incorporated in and made a part of the charter of the town.
