The Mayor for two (2) years prior to the day of his or her filing his declaration of candidacy for election with the Board of Elections and continuing through his term of office shall be a continuous qualified elector of this Municipality.
The Mayor shall hold no other elective public office. He or she may serve as notary public, member of the National Guard, membership in the State Militia, or Reserve Corps of the United States. He or she shall not be otherwise employed by, nor shall he or she hold any other municipal office in this Municipality except as described in Article VII of this Charter. He or she shall not have, directly or indirectly, any interest in the profits or emoluments of any contract, work, or service with or for the Municipality as provided by general law. The office of Mayor shall be a part-time position until such time as Council determines the need for a full-time Mayor. Such determinations shall be presented to the electors as an amendment to this Charter. Council shall provide commensurate compensation.
