Parking lots shall be reasonably screened from streets and adjacent uses using a combination of plant materials, decorative fences, decorative walls, and/or earthen mounds.
(a) Applicability: Parking lots with five (5) or more spaces shall provide the following perimeter planting.
(b) Installation: Shrubs shall be planted to effectively screen all parking lot areas from the right-of-way and adjacent properties.
(c) Arrangement:
(1) Trees shall be planted within ten (10) feet of the parking lot edge.
(2) Shrubs shall be planted within five (5) feet of the parking lot edge.
(d) Minimum Number:
(1) One (1) tree per ten (10) parking spaces shall be planted. A minimum of fifty percent (50%) of the required trees shall be canopy trees.
(2) Three (3) shrubs per one (1) parking space shall be planted.
(e) Substitution: A decorative wall may be installed in lieu of shrubs for locations along the perimeter of the parking area. Walls, if used, shall be a minimum of thirty (30) inches and a maximum of forty-two (42) inches in height and may incorporate breaks to allow for pedestrian movement.
