1464.06 CHANGES IN OCCUPANCY; RESPONSIBILITY FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF DETECTORS.
   (a)   On the occasion of every change in occupancy of every dwelling unit, the grantor thereof shall certify before occupancy, to the new occupant, that all carbon monoxide detectors, as required by this chapter and other applicable laws, are installed and in proper working condition.
   (b)   The owner shall be responsible for the replacement of batteries or the carbon monoxide detector. The owner or his or her authorized agent shall correct any reported deficiencies in the carbon monoxide detector. The owner shall not be in violation of this chapter for a deficient carbon monoxide detector when such owner has not received notice of the deficiency.
   (c)   The tenant shall test and maintain carbon monoxide detectors within his or her dwelling unit and shall notify the owner, in writing, of any deficiencies. The owner shall provide each tenant with written information regarding detector testing and maintenance.
   (d)   The owner shall be responsible for testing and maintaining detectors in common stairwells and hallways.
