1505.031 SENIOR CITIZENS, HANDICAPPED AND GROUP HOME HOUSING; AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS REQUIRED.
   (a)    If the Building Code or the Fire Prevention Code do not require a standard automatic fire suppression system (sprinklers) under the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 13 for multiple single family housing and multiple-family housing designed for or occupied by senior citizens, physically or mentally handicapped persons, or group homes, then a residential sprinkler system meeting the requirements of NFPA Standard 13D (1980) shall be installed in all multiple single family housing and multiple-family housing designed for or occupied by senior citizens, physically or mentally handicapped or group homes of any type.
   (b)    As used in this section "group home" means a dwelling unit or dwelling units primarily for providing supervised room, board and care, in a residential setting, to three or more residents whose mental or physical disability limits their ability to live independently. The term does not include a clinic, institution, hospital, nursing home, convalescent home, school, child day care center, nursery, dormitory or similar use.
