The commission shall have the following powers and duties:
A. Review of all applications for approval of appropriateness at a public meeting by evaluating the proposed improvement, alteration and demolition by determining compliance with the appearance review code.
B. Upon receipt of an application and after a public meeting: 1) issue approval of appropriateness, 2) issue approval of appropriateness subject to modification of the application or 3) deny approval of appropriateness. In the event an applicant appeals the appropriateness approval subject to modification of an application or denial of approval of appropriateness to the village board, the commission may issue a recommendation to the village board in response to such appeal.
C. Make recommendations to the village board regarding amendments to the appearance review code.
D. The commission shall work for the continuing education of the citizens of the village with respect to the historic and architectural heritage of the village. (Ord. 08-08, 2-18-2008)
