§ 34.05 VACATION AND PERSONAL TIME OFF.
   (A)   All full-time and permanent part- time employees will be granted paid vacation leave annually according to the following provisions:

   (B)   All increases in vacation time begin on January 1 of the first year in which the increase applies.
   (C)   Vacation days cannot be carried over from one year to the next. They must be used within a one-year period.
   (D)   Vacation will be granted at the discretion of the department head.
   (E)   Employees who have completed their initial probationary period (six months) have the opportunity to earn up to three personal leave days per calendar year and these personal leave days shall not be deducted from the employee’s accrued sick leave balance, subject to the following provisions.
      (1)   Employees who work four consecutive months without using any sick leave will earn eight hours of paid personal leave.
      (2)   The leave may be used for any personal reason of the employee’s choosing.
      (3)   As used in this policy, calendar year shall mean the period of January 1 to December 31 of any year.
      (4)   Requests for personal leave shall be made as far in advance as possible through the employee’s immediate department head, Village Administrator or Mayor. The employee shall be given written approval/disapproval by the end of the next working day following the employee’s request.
      (5)   These days will not accrue from year to year.
      (6)   These days will not be paid out if unused.
