Council may provide and, subject to its confirmation, the Mayor shall appoint one or more police officers, night watch persons, special police officers and private police officers. All such officers shall continue in office until removed, except in the case of private police officers who shall be appointed for the period of their employment by private companies or organizations and, upon termination of employment, their duties as private police officers shall cease and be terminated.
