Any person violating, causing or permitting violation of any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a class C misdemeanor, unless otherwise provided by this chapter or by the adopted traffic code. Notwithstanding other language or provisions in the state traffic rules and regulations, adopted by section 6-1-1 of this chapter, any violator of this chapter, upon conviction, shall be subject to penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code; provided, that minimum sentences and all other sanctions consistent with the aforementioned guidelines and contained in the adopted traffic code are incorporated in this section by reference.
