2-1-1: BOARD CREATED; APPOINTMENT:
There is hereby established a library board of the city, consisting of five (5) members to be appointed by the council. The council shall also annually appoint one of its members to serve as liaison to the board without voting rights. The members of the library board shall be citizens of the city and shall hold their offices for five (5) years from the date of their appointment and until their successors are appointed, except the board first appointed shall by lot at its first meeting divide itself into five (5) classes; one member shall form the first class and serve for one year from the date of appointment; one member shall form the second class and serve for two (2) years from the date of appointment; one member shall form the third class and shall serve for three (3) years from the date of appointment; one member shall form the fourth class and shall serve for four (4) years from the date of appointment; and one member shall form the fifth class and shall serve for five (5) years from the date of appointment. All vacancies on the board shall be immediately reported to the council by the board, and shall be filled by appointment in the same manner as the original appointments. Appointments to complete an unexpired term shall be for the residue of the term only.
No director shall be paid or receive any compensation whatsoever. (Ord. 1012, 5-10-1993)
