The village is authorized to establish and collect a convenience fee that shall be applied to the total payment charged to each credit or debit card transaction. The convenience fee shall be in addition to the total amount of the original fee, fine, or bill owed to the village, plus any applicable interest, penalty, or late charge. Effective January 1, 2017, the convenience fee shall equal the cost actually incurred by the village for processing the credit or debit card payment, not to exceed five dollars ($5.00).
