(A) No certificate of use and occupancy for any building or structure constructed after the adoption of this chapter shall be issued unless such building or structure was constructed, altered, repaired or changed in compliance with the provisions of this chapter. It shall be unlawful to occupy any such building or structure unless a certificate of use and occupancy has been issued by the Building Commissioner. A temporary certificate of use and occupancy may be issued, at the discretion of the Building Commissioner, if it is determined that the work to be completed or corrected does not adversely affect building safety and fire safety features of the building or structure. Such temporary certificate of use and occupancy will have a specified expiration date, at which time a permanent certificate of use and occupancy must be obtained.
(B) Failure to obtain a permanent certificate of use and occupancy will constitute a violation of this chapter. Each day, or portion thereof, shall be considered a separate offense.
