§ 90.04 IMPOUNDMENT.
   (A)   Dogs found at large shall be taken up by the Sheriff and impounded in the Animal Welfare Shelter for a period of not less than five days and may, thereafter, be disposed of in a humane manner if not claimed by their owners. Dogs not claimed by their owners before the expiration of five days shall become the property of the Animal Welfare Shelter and be disposed of at its discretion.
   (B)   When dogs are found running at large, and their ownership is known to the Sheriff, such dogs need not be impounded, but said authority may, at its discretion, issue a warning notice to the owner or cite the owners of such dogs to appear in court to answer to charges of violations of this chapter.
