§ 90.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ANIMAL SHELTER. Any premises designated by the Board of Commissioners of the county for the purpose of impounding and caring for dogs found at large in violaton of this chapter.
   ANIMAL WARDEN. The person appointed by the Sheriff of the county shall be sworn in as a special deputy and shall have the power of arrest as necessary in order to effectuate his or her responsibility and the enforcement of this chapter.
   AT LARGE. Any dog shall be deemed to be AT LARGE when it is off the property of its owner and not under control of a competent person while on a leash.
   OWNER. Any person, group of persons or corporation owning, keeping or harboring a dog(s).
   SHERIFF. The Sheriff of Wayne County, State of Indiana, or his or her duly authorized representative.
