As required by § 3.1-10-25 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/3.1-10-25), the Chief of Police and all other police officers appointed, hired, or retained by the village shall, before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, take and subscribe the oath or affirmation required of them by the state’s Constitution and file same with the Village Clerk.
