§ 31.121 DUTIES.
   It shall be the duty of the Village Constable to cause the public peace to be preserved by the enforcement of the ordinances of the village and resolutions of the President and Board of Trustees of the village, and by the suppression of all riots and disturbances which may occur; and when any violation of any ordinances of said village shall come to his or her knowledge, by information or otherwise, he or she shall forthwith file a complaint before the Police Magistrate of the village, or some Justice of the Peace, and attend to the procuring of evidence for the prosecution of the same. He or she shall attend to the collection of all penalties which may be imposed for such violations; he or she shall see that persons charged with crimes and misdemeanors punishable by the laws of the state, committed within the village, are brought before the proper tribunal; and he or she shall have authority, and it is hereby made his or her duty, to arrest, upon view of the offense, without warrant, all offenders against the ordinances of said village.
