1222.06   MEASURING SIGNS.

   (a)   Signable Area. Signs are measured as the area within a single, continuous perimeter composed of the smallest square, circle, rectangle, triangle, or combination thereof that will encompass the extreme limits of the writing, representation, emblem, or other display. This includes any frame or other material or color, forming an integral part of the background of the display or used to differentiate the sign from the background against which it is placed.
      (1)   The support structure necessary to support the sign is excluded from this calculation.
      (2)   Signage for multi-tenant buildings only calculates the wall length of individual tenant space, and not the building as a whole.
   (b)   Height. The height of a sign is calculated by measuring the distance from the base of the sign at grade, to the top of the highest attached framed component of the sign.
