This chapter shall become effective July 1, 1993. If any person, firm or corporation has a contract for the hauling of solid waste within the City which extends beyond July 1, 1993, such contract shall be exempt from the provisions of this chapter unless or until such hauler extends, renegotiates, recontracts, exercises an option with respect to, or in any manner lengthens, the agreement with its customer beyond the terms contained in such contract as of the effective date of this chapter. Nothing herein to the contrary shall extend the time that a hauler has to license itself.
