It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation, or partnership to report, or cause to be reported, any information relative to a felony or misdemeanor in writing, orally, by telephone or by any other manner or means of communication when such person, firm, corporation or partnership knows the same to be false or untrue. The providing of fictitious information as to the commission of the misdemeanor or felony or as to any facts or information regarding said misdemeanor or felony, when known to be false, is a misdemeanor.
