258.02 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter:
   (a)   "Average weekly wage," with respect to a base period of employment, means the amount determined by dividing total wages paid by the City for credit weeks earned in the employment of the City by the number of such credit weeks chargeable to the City as employer.
   (b)   "Base period" means the period of fifty-two consecutive calendar weeks ending with the day immediately preceding the first day of an individual's benefit year.
   (c)   "Benefit year," with respect to any individual, means the period of fifty-two consecutive calendar weeks beginning with the first calendar week with respect to which the individual, who does not already have a benefit year in effect, files a claim for benefits under this chapter, provided that the individual has earned wages of at least twenty-five dollars and one cent ($25.01) in fourteen or more calendar weeks within the base period. Each such week shall be a "credit week."
   (d)   "Benefits" means the money payments payable to an eligible and qualified individual, as provided in this chapter, with respect to unemployment.
   (e)   "Personnel Director" means the Personnel Secretary of the Personnel Board.
   (f)   "Unemployed" means an individual who, with respect to any week, performs no services and has no remuneration payable to him or her or who, with respect to any week of less than full-time work, has payable to him or her remuneration of less than his or her weekly benefit rate.
   (g)   "Wages" means remuneration paid for employment but does not include any employee payment for life or health insurance, pension, equipment allowance or similar payment.
