(A) Mailboxes and mailbox supports are the property of the mail route patron. The city does not issue written permits for placement of mailboxes within the road right-of-way, nor do our easements provide for mailbox construction. All mailboxes placed within the road right-of-way are placed there at the owner's risk.
(B) Types of mailboxes and supports are at the owner's discretion including the option for swing arm mailbox supports. Mailboxes should be constructed at a minimum of 45 inches to 48 inches to the ground at the front of the mailbox and flush with the front of the curb. Prior to installation, Gopher State One Call shall be notified to locate area utilities. Replacement of mailboxes and new mailbox construction shall comply with the guidelines set forth in this section. Existing mailboxes may vary from the regulations in this section but upon replacement, shall comply with this section. Newspaper containers shall comply upon replacement and shall be located on the side of the mailbox. Replacement and newly constructed mailboxes are at the owner's expense.
(C) Due to the accumulation of snow and snow removal operations, mailboxes may be damaged by the plow equipment. The city is not responsible for the replacement of mailboxes that are located in the road right-of-way.
