(A) The Chief of the Independent Fire Department serving the city, or his or her representative authorized by him or her, shall enforce the provisions of this chapter.
(B) (1) The Chief of the Fire Department may detail the members of the Fire Department as inspectors as shall, from time to time, be necessary.
(2) The Chief of the Fire Department may recommend the employment of technical inspectors, who, when authorization is made, shall be selected through an examination to determine their fitness for the position.
(3) The examination shall be open to members and non-members of the Fire Department and appointments made after examination shall be for an indefinite term with removal only for cause.
