The Pike County Sheriff may declare a snow and/or ice emergency and classify such as a level 1, level 2, or level 3. The decision will be made after consulting with the County Engineer, Township Trustees, ODOT and EMA Director. It may then become necessary to close City offices and non-essential departments due to local natural disaster including weather conditions; the following steps will be followed:
(a) When the Pike County Sheriff declares a LEVEL 2 weather emergency which is in effect at 6:00 a.m. on a work day, nonessential employees shall report to work at 11 :30 a.m.
(b) If the Pike County Sheriff maintains a LEVEL 2 weather emergency as of 10:00 a.m. on a given work day, non- essential employees shall not be required to report to work, and the remaining work hour are excused. PTO will not be required to cover the work hours.
(c) If the Pike County Sheriff maintains a LEVEL 3 weather emergency which is in effect at 6:00 a.m. on a work day, and the weather conditions are predicted to stay the same or worsen; non-essential employees are excused the whole work day. PTO will not be required to cover the work hours.
