(a) The Chief of Police shall have authority to erect signs on streets in the vicinity of hospitals, sanitariums, and other institutions reserved for the treatment of the sick and injured, displaying the words “Notice - Hospital Street,” “Quiet Zone,” other appropriate words of warning or admonition to drivers to refrain from making any undue noise when passing such institution.

(b) Whoever violates any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor on a first offense; on a second offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree; on each subsequent offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
