Before a permit to demolish or move a building is given by the Municipal Administrator, verification shall be made by the Water Department, that a deposit has been made to cover the cost, as determined by the Director of Public works, of disconnecting all taps in the water main serving the premises.
(a) Premises where buildings are being demolished, remodeled or moved, shall be inspected and all tap branches found shall be disconnected from the water main serving the premises.
(b) Where it is possible, and the water service will again be needed on the premises where buildings are being razed, a reasonable delay in abandoning of service may be granted by the Director of Public Works or his agent, but in no case any longer than two years. However, it shall not be granted if the service connection is smaller than five-eighths inch which is the minimum allowed.
