For the purpose of this chapter, the location and height of a garage is considered a zoning issue, whereas the construction requirements are considered a building code issue. The appeals process for each may differ. Zoning issues are handled as variances to the zoning code, title 9 of this code, and heard by the zoning board of appeals. Building code issues are generally appeals related to decisions or rulings by the code official, title 8, "Building Regulations", of this code and are heard by the building board of appeals.
