(A) Location standards.
(1) Two-foot setback from each property line, unless the adjoining property owner(s) approve in writing that the fence or wall can be closer to the property line. The written agreement shall be recorded in the Office of the Recorder of DeKalb County.
(2) All fences and walls shall be a minimum of two feet from any public sidewalk, public property, street right-of-way, and alley right-of-way.
(3) No fence or wall shall be installed in such a manner as to obscure the vision of drivers on public streets, highways, and alleys, or drivers exiting private driveways.
(4) Fences along property lines containing drainage and/or utility easements shall be setback from the property line a distance equal to the width of the easement.
(B) Height standards.
(1) Front yards - maximum height: up to four feet.
(2) Side and rear yards - maximum height: up to eight feet.
(3) Posts shall be permitted to a maximum height of one foot above the permitted fence height for the yard in which it is located.
(4) On a corner lot, both sides of a building which face a street shall be defined as a front yard for the purposes of this chapter.
