§ 97.25 PUBLIC PLACES.
   (A)   No person shall paint, mark or write on or post or otherwise affix any handbill or sign or poster to or upon any sidewalk, crosswalk, curb, curbstone, street, lamp post, hydrant, tree, shrub, tree stake or guard, electric light, or power or telephone pole, or upon any public roadway, street sign, traffic sign, or town park or public building.
   (B)   Any handbill, sign or poster found posted, or otherwise affixed upon any public property identified in division (A) above contrary to the provisions of this section may be removed by the Police Department or any town official or employee authorized by the Town Council to do so. The person responsible for such illegal posting shall be liable for the costs incurred by the town in its removal and the Town Council is authorized to collect such costs.
   (C)   Nothing in this section shall apply to the installation of a metal plaque or plate or individual figures or letters, in a sidewalk commemorating a historical, cultural or artistic event, location or personality for which the Town Council has granted written approval. Further, nothing in this section shall apply to the installation of a monument or other appropriate marker in the town's cemetery.
   (D)   Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this section shall be fined not $30 for each offense and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
