All vehicular traffic in the town, and the same is hereby required to stop before entering the intersection at all so designated through or stop streets and yield the right-of-way to traffic on such preferential streets. Failure to do so when such intersection is properly marked as provided shall subject the offender to the penalties provided in this traffic code.
