(A) Any participant eligible for pension benefits under the retirement system may retire from service with the city and commence the pension benefits by filing with the Retirement Board a written statement in the form prescribed by the Retirement Board, duly attested, setting forth at what time subsequent to the date a participant desires to be retired.
(B) Any application for disability retirement must be filed prior to a participant’s termination of service from the city.
(C) Participants retiring on or after October 1, 2008, may forfeit his or her rights to benefits under the Retirement System pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 1-110 et seq., as may be amended. Such participant shall, however, be entitled to a refund of his or her own contributions to the Retirement System.
