The rate of participant contributions to be made by a regular participant to the retirement system shall be 7.5% of base pay. Participant contributions by regular participants to the retirement system are mandatory as a condition of participation and accrual of benefits under the retirement system by a regular participant. No participant contributions shall be required after a regular participant becomes entitled to the maximum pension benefit under the retirement system.
