A.   Shade Tree Advisory Board. The Parks Director, or designee, in consultation with City Staff shall designate a Shade Tree Advisory Board. The Board shall consist of members of the community interested in promoting the benefit, growth and health of the urban forest. Board members should include, but not be limited to, persons with expertise in the field of urban forestry, Parks Board members, City Staff such as the City Planning Office, Department of Public Works and the Department of Parks or any other appropriate City personnel.
   B.   Assist The City. It shall be the responsibility of the Shade Tree Advisory Board to study, investigate, counsel and assist the Parks Director, or designee with the development of a plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees in parks, along streets and in other public areas. The Shade Tree Advisory Board shall also assist the City in the preparation and revision of its Shade Tree Manual including recommendations on tree species, tree planting locations and other related matters. The Shade Tree Advisory Board shall write and implement an annual community forestry work plan to qualify and be deemed a Tree City USA.
   C.   Recommendation. The Shade Tree Advisory Board, when requested by the Parks Director, or designee, shall consider, investigate, make findings, report and recommend upon any special matter or question coming within the scope of its work.
   D.   Officers. The Shade Tree Advisory Board shall choose its own officers, make its own rules and regulations and keep a journal of its proceedings.
   E.   Service Without Pay. All members of the Shade Tree Advisory Board shall serve without pay. (Ord. 2022-09, 3-9-2022)
