In approving a name the following requirements must be met:
(A) Duplications of any existing or new street names will not be allowed in part or as a
whole. Two or more words that are either pronounced alike but different in spelling and meaning or sound alike, regardless of suffix and/or prefix (i.e. Pear Street, Pair Street, and Pare Avenue; Lauren Avenue or Laurel Street would not be acceptable). Duplication problems caused by misaligned zip code and/or Emergency Service Number areas, to the extent they may exist, shall be evaluated when considering street names.
(B) Abbreviations, other than suffix or prefix shall not be used in the street name.
© The requested name shall consist of no more than 13 characters and spaces (not including prefix and suffix), The following names would be acceptable:

(D) Any street with several intersecting streets shall be one continuous street name.
(E) Proper names are discouraged in light of disharmony in the community. If used, proper names shall reflect deceased historical persons and shall consist only of surname. Full proper names are not allowed.
(F) Priorities shall be given to names selected by local residents which reflect local community interests or landmarks (i.e., churches, hills, historical incidents, etc.); and names which reflect themes such as trees, flowers, birds, and the like.
(G) Street names should not bear business names.
(H) Wherever possible, Ohio and US Highways shall be designated as Highways (i.e. Highway 501 S).
(I) Permanent dead end streets shall have a suffix “Court” or “Place” and not “Circle” or “Drive” as not to be misleading to an emergency vehicle looking for a cut through to another street.
(J) After final approval of the street names from the Council of the city, signs will be erected as soon as possible based on availability of materials and labor.
(K) Signs for new streets are to be furnished and erected by the developer.
