(A) The issuance of permits and the collection of fees shall be as authorized in M.S. § 16B.62 (1), as it may be amended from time to time.
(B) (1) Permit fees shall be assessed for work governed by this code in accordance with the following:
(a) Residential property: 65% of the 1997 State Fee Schedule;
1. Plumbing: $70;
2. Mechanical: $70;
3. Furnace replacement: $0;
4. Plumbing remodeling: $35.
(b) Commercial property: 75% of the 1997 State Fee Schedule;
(c) Water heater: $0;
(d) Water softener: $0;
(e) Roofing permit: $15 to maximum of $95 (pending value).
(2) In addition, a surcharge fee shall be collected on all permits issued for work governed by this code in accordance with M.S. § 16B.70, as it may be amended from time to time.
(C) All work under a building permit shall be completed within the following time frame or a new permit, including the required fee shall be required for the entire project:
(1) All work requiring a fee of up to $250 shall be completed within three months of the day of issue.
(2) All work requiring a fee of from $250.01 and not exceeding $500 shall be completed within six months of the day of issue.
(3) All work requiring a fee of from $500.01 and not exceeding $1,000 shall be completed within eight months of the day of issue.
(4) All work requiring a fee of from $1,000.01 and not exceeding $2,000 shall be completed within 12 months of the day of issue.
(5) All work requiring a fee of from $2,000.01 and not exceeding $5,000 shall be completed within 24 months of the day of issue.
(6) All work requiring a fee exceeding $5,000 shall be evaluated individually by the Building Official for the time limit.
