A. In addition to all regularly required or permitted lights and equipment, any emergency vehicle may carry such additional lights and equipment as are required or permitted for a vehicle of its type by legislation of the state of Illinois 1 .
B. When acting to take care of an emergency, the driver of such vehicle is, to the extent permitted by state legislation and justified by the circumstances, exempted from the restrictions imposed by this title, but he is not exempted from the responsibility to act in accordance with safe practices or with the directions of a police officer 2 .
C. All pertinent legislation of the state is hereby adopted by reference as part of this title. (Ord. 61, 3-11-1969)
