A. Office Established, Appointment: There is hereby established the office of director of public works of the city, which office shall be appointed by the city administrator.
B. Responsibilities: The director of public works shall be responsible for:
1. The operation of the public works department, including all divisions, and the supervision and direction of its employees.
2. Advising the city administrator and city council on matters related to the city infrastructure and capital improvement programs.
3. Overseeing the operations and maintenance of the city's water and sanitary sewer utilities.
4. Coordination of general maintenance of all city buildings, grounds and properties.
5. Performing such other duties as may be prescribed by the city administrator or city ordinance.
C. Duties: The director of public works shall restrict his employment strictly to the office of the director of public works of the city while in the employment of the city. (Ord. 2040, 2-18-2003; amd. Ord. O2021-02, 1-18-2021)
