1-6-2: OATHS, BONDS:
Before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, all city officers, whether elected or appointed, shall take and subscribe the following oath:
I do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of the United States and the constitution of the State of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of              according to the best of my ability.
This oath, so subscribed shall be filed in the office of the city clerk.
Before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, all city officers, except aldermen, shall execute a bond with security to be approved by the corporate authorities. The bond shall be payable to the city in whatever penal sum may be directed by resolution or ordinance, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of the office and the payment of all money received by such officer, according to law and also the ordinances of the city. Such bond may provide that the obligation of the sureties shall not extend to any loss sustained by the insolvency, failure, or closing of any bank or savings and loan association organized and operating either under the laws of the state or the United States wherein such officer has placed funds in his custody, if the bank or savings and loan association has been approved by the corporate authorities as a depository for these funds. In no case, however, shall the mayor's bond be fixed at less than three thousand dollars ($3,000.00). The treasurer's bond shall be an amount of money that is not less than three (3) times the latest federal census population or any subsequent census figure used for motor fuel tax purposes. These bonds shall be filed with the city clerk, except the bond of the city clerk, which shall be filed with the city treasurer. (Ord. 1016, 12-19-1988)
