A. The mayor shall perform all the duties which are prescribed by law, including the city ordinance and shall take care that the laws and ordinances are faithfully executed.
B. The mayor presides at the council meetings, but may not abuse his authority as a parliamentarian. The mayor has the power to administer oaths.
C. The mayor at all times may examine and inspect the books, records and papers of any agent, employee or officer of the city.
D. When necessary, the mayor may call on every inhabitant of the city over the age of eighteen (18) years to aid in enforcing laws and ordinances. (Ord. 469, 10-15-1979)
E. The mayor shall appoint persons to fill aldermanic vacancies in the manner provided by 65 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/3.1-10-50, as now existing or hereafter amended. (Ord. 1592, 7-7-1997; amd. Ord. 1997, 9-16-2002)
