(a) A permit issued shall be construed as permission to proceed with the work. It shall not be construed as authority to violate, cancel, alter or set aside any of the provisions of the Building and Housing Code or other applicable laws, ordinances, rules or regulations, nor shall such issuance of a permit prevent the Director of Public Service and Safety or his or her designee from thereafter requiring a correction of errors in plans or in construction, or of violations of the Building and Housing Code or other applicable laws, ordinances, rules or regulations.
(b) The Director of Public Service and Safety or his or her designee shall not incur any personal liability or expense or impose any liability or expense upon the City by virtue of his or her prior approval of any plans or specification later determined by him or her or any other authority to be in contravention of the Building and Housing Code or other applicable laws, ordinances, rules or regulations.
