§ 15-109 EMERGENCY HEALTH CARE UTILITY SERVICE.
The city shall not discontinue the utility service of customers who have submitted to the city a letter from a family physician, written on doctor’s letterhead and bearing the signature of the physician, stating that, because of the health of a family member, utility services are not to be disconnected. This provision is applicable where breathing machines, heart monitors or other life supporting equipment using city utilities are employed. In cases where the city utility departments must disconnect service for line maintenance or new installations, the city shall make a diligent effort to notify customers who have submitted such letter, prior to disconnection. Notification prior to emergency disconnections in response to an immediate safety threat shall not be required.
