§ 13-210 CLASSIFICATION.
The classification of all sidewalks in the city shall be as follows.
   (a)   Sidewalks in the city shall be known and designated as first, second and third class.
   (b)   Sidewalks of the first class shall be 15 feet wide. Sidewalks of the second class shall be eight feet wide. Sidewalks of the third class shall be five feet wide.
   (c)   First class sidewalks shall be laid from the line of the lot to the inside of the curb, covering all space between the line of the lot and the curbing running parallel with the line of the lot.
   (d)   Second class sidewalks shall be laid eight feet in width and shall be constructed 14 inches from the line of the lot, leaving a space of 14 inches between the lot line and the sidewalk.
   (e)   Third class sidewalks shall be five feet in width and shall be constructed 14 inches away from the line of the adjoining lot, leaving a space of 14 inches between the lot and the sidewalk, except third class sidewalks may, upon approval of the governing body, be installed adjacent to the curb line, in which case the sidewalk shall be six feet in width. In addition, the Building Official may require greater width at intersections to accommodate handicapped accessible ramps. (All new sidewalks shall be constructed with handicapped accessible ramps based on current federal handicapped accessible standards except where it can be shown that a ramp would have no merit. In such cases this requirement may be waived by the Building Official.)
